Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis in Irving

A reverse osmosis system under your kitchen sink gives you clean water for drinking, coffee and cooking from its own small faucet. We test first, size the system to your household and show you what it costs to own over the years.

Better drinking water where you use it most

Inside an RO system, your home's water pressure forces water across a tightly woven membrane. Dissolved minerals, lead from older plumbing and most of the compounds behind an off taste stay on the far side and rinse away to the drain. Before the membrane, a carbon stage takes out chlorine, and after it a second carbon stage polishes the water. The result is water you are happy to drink, right at the tap that supplies most of it.

It is the right call when your concern is what goes in a glass or a pot, not what comes out of the shower. If the whole house smells of chlorine, whole-house carbon filtration is the better fit, and some families end up with both.

We look at more than the sticker price. A cheaper unit with odd-sized filters can cost more over five years than a sturdier one with standard cartridges, so we show you both numbers before anything gets installed.

What an installation includes

A water test first
We check your water before recommending a system. That tells us whether RO is worth it for your home and which prefilters make sense.
Multi-stage filter system
A sediment prefilter, a carbon prefilter, the RO membrane and a carbon post-filter. Standard-size housings keep replacement filters easy to find and fairly priced.
Its own drinking tap
Filtered water comes out of a small separate spout beside your main faucet. If your sink has no spare hole, we drill one, taking extra care with granite and quartz.
Storage tank or tankless unit
Most systems use a small pressure tank under the sink. Where cabinet space is tight, a tankless model can be a good option, and we explain the tradeoff in cost and upkeep.
Drain and supply connections
We tie into the cold line and the sink drain so the system rinses itself properly. If you want, we can run a line to your fridge or ice maker too.
Walkthrough and cleanup
Before we leave, we show you how to spot a filter that is due and clear out every scrap of packaging and tubing.

Signs an RO system makes sense for you

  • You buy bottled water

Cases of bottled water add up fast. An RO system usually costs less per gallon over its life, and you stop hauling plastic home.

  • Tap water tastes off

A chlorine or flat mineral taste in coffee, tea or ice is one of the most common reasons people call us.

  • Your plumbing is older

Older homes can have pipes or solder that release lead into water sitting in the lines. An RO membrane holds back most of that lead before it ever reaches your glass.

  • White spots on kettles and glasses

Mineral residue after boiling or drying points to dissolved solids that RO removes well.

  • Your current filter isn't keeping up

Pitcher and faucet-mount filters need constant cartridge changes and do less than many people think.

How the work goes

  1. 1

    Start with a call

On the phone, share what you dislike about your water right now and how much your household drinks and cooks with it. We lay out the options along with what each one costs to keep running.

  2. 2

    Water check and cabinet visit

We run a test on your water, then open up the sink cabinet to see how much room there is, how the drain is plumbed and what your counter is made of. A garbage disposal or a crowded cabinet can change which model fits.

  3. 3

    Written estimate

You get the install cost and the expected yearly filter cost on one page, so you can compare it with what you spend on bottled water now.

  4. 4

    Installation day

Most installs take a few hours. We protect the cabinet floor, connect everything, flush the new filters and check every fitting for drips.

What moves the price

The price depends on the system, your kitchen and how much water your household drinks. We quote the installation and the ongoing filter costs together. A system is only good value if the upkeep fits your budget too.

System type and capacity
Tank systems usually cost less up front. Tankless units save space and refill faster but often cost more to buy and to refilter.
Filter sizes and change schedule
Prefilters are typically changed about once a year and the membrane every few years. Standard cartridges keep that cost lower over time.
Countertop and cabinet
Drilling granite or quartz for the faucet takes more time than using an existing sink hole. Tight cabinets can call for a different layout.
Extra lines
Running filtered water to a fridge or ice maker adds tubing and labor, depending on the distance.
Your water
High sediment or minerals can shorten filter life. Sometimes a prefilter upgrade pays for itself by protecting the membrane.

Questions about reverse osmosis

Something not covered here? (972) 945-8770

How much water does an RO system send down the drain?

Some, because the membrane needs a steady rinse to stay clear. Newer designs use far less rinse water than older ones did, and we can show you the ratio for any model we recommend. It is worth weighing against the cost and plastic of bottled water.

Will it slow down my kitchen faucet?

No. Your regular faucet works exactly as before. The RO water comes from its own smaller faucet, which flows more slowly but fills a glass or pot without much wait.

Does RO remove minerals I need?

It removes most dissolved minerals, but most people get their minerals from food rather than water. If you prefer the taste of mineral water, a remineralizing post-filter can be added.

How often do the filters need changing?

Prefilters usually need changing about once a year and the membrane every few years, depending on your water and use. Our filter replacement and maintenance service can handle it, or we can show you how to do it yourself.

Do I need a water test first?

We recommend it. A test tells us whether RO is the right answer or whether a simpler filter would do the job for less. You can read more on our water testing page.
